Dua Lipa issues a statement after illegal fireworks went off at her Toronto show

Dua Lipa has officially spoken about the unauthorized fireworks that went off at her recent concert. The scary incident left three concertgoers sustaining minor injuries.

Dua Lipa address the illicit fireworks that were set off during her Toronto show

Dua Lipa took the stage of Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada as a part of her ongoing Future Nostalgia Tour on Wednesday.

However, things took a turn when an unknown suspect allegedly located in the floor section threw the fireworks at the end of the Levitating singer’s show.

In multiple fan-captured videos of the incident, we can witness the fireworks exploding on the floor inside the indoor venue as the audience runs toward safety. 

Lipa did not seem to be aware of the episode at that time. In the clips, she is seen thanking her dancers before finishing off her performance.

Regardless, the 26-year-old singer released a statement to address the shocking event.

She wrote on her Instagram Story, ‘Last night, unauthorized fireworks went off in the crowd during my set in Toronto. Creating a safe and inclusive space at my shows is always my first priority. My team and I are just as shocked and confused by the events as you all are.’

The New Rules crooner continued, ‘There is an ongoing investigation into the events being conducted. Everyone involved is working hard to find out how this incident occurred.’

She concluded the message by saying, ‘Bringing this show to life for my fans has been such an amazing experience. I’m so deeply sorry for anyone who was scared, felt unsafe, or whose enjoyment of the show was affected in any way. All my love.’

Authorities confirm the incident

The cops shared with Toronto’s news channel CityNews that they received a call around 11:40 pm about the fireworks. They also revealed that the incident is being investigated.

The officials further mentioned that the three fans who suffered minor injuries during the incident received onsite medical attention. The police further reported that no permanent damage was caused to the venue.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment also issued a statement regarding the incident.

They wrote, ‘Last night, at the end of a concert event at Scotiabank Arena, unauthorized and illegal fireworks were set off on the arena floor by a member of the audience. As a result, three attendees received minor aid on-site. They were able to go home without a need for further medical attention.’
