Drake Geiger died: How did the high school football player die?

Drake Geiger was a Nebeaska High School Football Player. His sudden death has shaken everyone. The 16-years-old died during practice on Tuesday i.e. 10 August.

Scott Hoffman, Drake’s father said that he suddenly collapsed when he stopped for a drink after his drill.

Who was Drake Geiger?

A student and a football player in Nebraska Omaha South School, Drake Geiger was excited to play football this season as he missed the earlier one. “He didn’t care if he was playing or on the sidelines. He just wanted to be a part of the team and be around all the guys,” said his father.

Last season, he missed the game because his doctor forgot to sign his physical forms. The teenager died a day before he was going to get his driving license on Wednesday.

How Drake Geiger died?

Father Scott received a call from Drake’s Coach around 4:20 pm. He told him that Drake collapsed during practice and was now being taken to UNMC.

The medical staff informed Scott that the internal temperature of his son’s body was around 122 degrees. Therefore, the doctors said that he died because of heatstroke.

“After 30-40 minutes, the doctor came in and said that the body was so overheated and his organs were working extra hard, and he was very, very sick. They told me it wasn’t a good situation,” said Drake’s father.

Drake’s family includes his four sisters, father, and his grandparents. His family has started GoFundMe Campaign to collect money for Drake’s funeral. If you are willing then you can too make a donation here.

Twitter pays tribute

Everyone is so shocked by his sudden death, that his fans came to twitter to pay him tribute. One such tweet said, ” Rest in Peace DrakeGeiger, our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.”

Another person tweeted, ” Please stay safe when being outside, sending all the love I can to the family and friends..”

And so on.. with hundreds of tweets, everyone showed their respect and sympathy to Drake Geiger and his family. May his soul rest in peace!
