Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently found himself at the center of another viral moment after mistaking American singer Nicky Jam for a woman during a campaign rally in Las Vegas. The blunder occurred on September 13, at the World Market Center, where Nicky Jam was present to endorse Trump.

As Trump took to the stage to thank his supporters, he made a rather amusing error while introducing the Latin music superstar. He stated, “Latin music superstar Nicky Jam, do you know Nicky? She’s hot. Where is Nicky? Where is Nicky? Thank you, Nicky. Great to be having you here. Now you have to get, oh, look, I’m glad he came up.” The confusion was palpable, but the situation quickly turned light-hearted as the crowd responded with laughter and cheers.

Nicky Jam, born Nick Rivera Caminero, is an American singer known for his contributions to the reggaeton and Latin trap genres. Some of his most popular songs include “X,” “Travesuras,” “El Perdón,” “Hasta el Amanecer,” and “El Amante.” He has collaborated with a number of prominent Latin artists, including Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Anuel AA, and Ozuna. While his early music was characterized by its fast-paced beats, his more recent works have incorporated romantic themes and melodic hooks, solidifying his status as a versatile and beloved artist in the Latin music scene.

The video of Trump’s mix-up quickly went viral, prompting a wave of humorous reactions on social media. Users on X (formerly known as Twitter) were quick to mock the former president’s error. One user joked, “Trump is very confused, he’s finding men hot!” Another chimed in, “He doesn’t know or give a damn about who these people are. He just wants their endorsements for votes. Hopefully someone like @NickyJamPR can see this now.”

Others took the opportunity to poke fun at the situation, drawing a connection to Trump’s stance on LGBTQ+ issues. “Trump is now trying to reach out to the LGBTQ community? Nice,” quipped one user, while another humorously suggested, “Maybe that’s his preference. Trump supporters often hurl homophobic slurs. That could be their way of coming out because who would have that many images of men being intimate with other men? Love who you love. No need to hide, it’s 2024.”

Nicky Jam is not just a well-known musician but also an accomplished actor. He gained recognition in the early 2000s with albums like Haciendo Escante and Vida Escante, the latter of which featured a successful collaboration with Daddy Yankee. Over the years, his career has been marked by numerous hits and accolades, including the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. Beyond music, he starred in the 2017 action film XXX: Return of Xander Cage

Although Nicky Jam did not immediately respond to Trump’s mix-up during the rally, he later acknowledged the situation on social media. He shared a screenshot of a Spanish-language post about the incident, accompanied by 22 laughing-crying emojis, seemingly finding humor in the mishap just like the rest of the internet.

Trump’s introduction of Nicky Jam as a “hot woman” was an unexpected and humorous moment that quickly caught the attention of social media users, showcasing how even political events can take an amusing turn.
