Don Lemon faces backlash for misogynistic comments

Don Lemon found himself in hot water after he was benched from ‘CNN This Morning’ for two consecutive days over his sexist remarks.

If you didn’t know, Lemon was discussing Nikki Haley’s call for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75 with his co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.

However, he said during Thursday’s show, ‘a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.’

In addition, Lemon took to his Twitter account the next day to apologize for his sexist statement.

He wrote, ‘The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant. As colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it.’

Lemon continued, ‘A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.’

But instead of claiming the storm, the apology ended up ruffling the feathers of the network’s staff. They considered the apology to not be genuine.

A source stated, ‘His apology meant nothing and there is so much pressure for him to be canned. It would be a shock if he wasn’t.’

Besides that, Chris Licht, CNN’s CEO also condemned Lemon for the remark.

He rebuked, ‘His remarks were upsetting, unacceptable, and unfair to his co-hosts. And ultimately a huge distraction to the great work of this organization.’
