Disney Replaces Muppets Courtyard with Monstropolis, Relocates Muppets to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
3 min readBig changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and fans of The Muppets and Monsters, Inc. have plenty to look forward to. Disney announced on Friday that the Muppets Courtyard, home to the beloved MuppetVision 3D attraction, will be replaced by a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed area called Monstropolis. However, The Muppets won’t be leaving the park entirely; instead, they’ll take center stage in a revamped version of the iconic Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on Sunset Boulevard.
From Muppets Courtyard to Monstropolis
The Muppets Courtyard will soon make way for Monstropolis, a fully immersive Monsters, Inc. Land. Located on the southern side of the park, the new land will feature a variety of attractions, including a theater experience, themed restaurants, and a retail outlet. Disney has promised a vibrant and engaging environment where fans can explore the world of Mike, Sulley, and Boo.
This update signals the closure of the long-running MuppetVision 3D, a staple of the park for decades. While fans will undoubtedly miss the quirky 3D show, Disney assures guests that there is still time to experience it before the curtains close.

The Muppets Find a New Home
Fear not, Muppets fans! Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang aren’t going far. The beloved characters are taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, replacing Aerosmith as the stars of the high-speed ride.
The updated attraction will feature a fresh storyline where The Muppets team up with music stars for a thrilling music festival-themed adventure. Guests can expect plenty of laughs, catchy tunes, and classic Muppets humor throughout the revamped experience.
In a blog post, Disney explained:
“We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster. Plus, as the first Disney ride ever to feature The Muppets, there’s sure to be laughter, screams, and new tunes for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure.”
heartbroken over this closing. Muppetvision is not just a 3D movie, it is the last work of Jim Henson and the embodiment of his creativity. Removing it is plain disrespectful. I wish the Muppets were never sold to Disney. pic.twitter.com/iTFnjbFdnG
