Former Disney Channel directors Rich and Beth Correll have issued a public apology for writing letters of support on behalf of Brian Peck, a former Nickelodeon dialogue coach accused of sexual abuse by Drake & Josh star Drake Bell.

In a statement provided to Variety, the Corrells expressed deep regret over their decision to advocate for Peck, acknowledging that they were unaware of the truth surrounding the allegations at the time the letters were written. They extended their heartfelt apologies to Drake Bell and his family, acknowledging the pain and trauma caused by Peck’s actions.

The apology comes in the wake of revelations made in the Investigation Discovery docuseries titled “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” The series explores various issues within the children’s television industry, including allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.

Drake Bell recounted his experiences with Brian Peck in the docuseries, detailing instances of alleged sexual abuse that began when Bell was just 15 years old. Peck, who had previously worked on Nickelodeon shows such as All That and The Amanda Show, was eventually arrested and convicted on charges of child sexual abuse.

The Corrells, who had directed episodes of All That and The Amanda Show, expressed shock and devastation upon learning the truth about Peck’s actions. They emphasized their commitment to child safety on set and expressed remorse for inadvertently supporting Peck during his legal proceedings.

Other industry figures, including James Marsden, Taran Killam, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong, also wrote letters of support for Peck during his court case, according to the documentary. However, the Corrells stressed that their primary concern has always been the safety and well-being of children in the entertainment industry.

In their statement, the Corrells reaffirmed their support for Drake Bell and commended his bravery in coming forward with his story. They expressed hope that Bell would find healing and urged for continued efforts to protect children in the industry.
