Sean ‘Diddy” Combs clears the air by saying that he was joking when he remarked about paying Sting $5,000 a day for a sample for ‘I’ll Be Missing You.’

Here is everything you need to know.

Diddy walks back on his viral claim of paying  Sting $5K a day for a song sample

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is trying to clarify after sharing the viral tweet where he claimed that he pays Sting $5,000 a day in royalties for sampling songs.

If you didn’t know, the whole thing stemmed after Black Millionaires posted a clip from a 2018 interview with The Breakfast Club on Twitter on Wednesday. Moreover, the clip gradually went on to take over the whole social media.

However, the Grammy-winning artist quickly tried to set the record straight after the post began circulating online.

He wrote, ‘I want y’all to understand I was joking!’

The Bad Boy For Life artist continued, ‘It’s called being facetious! Me and @OfficialSting have been friends for a long time! He never charged me $3K or $5K a day for Missing You. He probably makes more than $5K a day from one of the biggest songs in history.’

He wrote in a follow-up tweet, ‘Nope. 5K a day. Love to my brother @OfficialSting.’

Hence, it appears like the repentant rapper was only being cheeky when he made remarks on Friday that are reportedly not true.

More about I’ll Be Missing You

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs dedicated his song I’ll Be Missing You to iconic New York rapper The Notorious B.I.G., who was killed in 1997 at the age of 24.

Additionally, the rapper was joined alongside Biggie’s widow, Faith Evans, on the song as well as with R&B group 112.

Meanwhile, Diddy performed the emotional tune with Sting at his side during the MTV Video Music Awards. It took place on 4th September 1997 in Radio City Music Hall, New York City.

Besides that, the tribute was an instant hit and spent around 11 weeks after reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Diddy also went on to grab the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the Grammy Awards.

The 53-year-old mogul honored the late rapper by sharing a tweet on his 26th death anniversary last month.

He wrote, ‘There will NEVER be another. The GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME.’

He added, ‘Today we celebrate and honor you king. Love and miss you!!’
