A bogus flyer from the Grand Cayman hotel featured actor Armie Hammer as the hotel’s concierge was shared by Desus & Mero producer Muna Mire on July 6th. The flyer came with free lottery tickets from Hammer’s concierge service and a fictitious schedule of the actor staying at the hotel.

The article was widely shared before being taken down after people began to doubt its veracity when it was refuted online. Muna Mire said in the tweet that the flyer’s image was given by her friend’s parents, who had gone to the Grand Cayman hotel where the Call Me by Your Name actor supposedly offered his services.

According to the allegations, Hammer was allegedly observed serving as a concierge at Morritt’s Resorts of the Grand Cayman Vacation Club. Except for Fridays and Saturdays, he claimed to have worked most of the week at the business. The falsity of the information in the flyer has now been established.

What was the claim made on the bogus flier that portrayed Armie Hammer as a concierge in the Cayman Islands?

My friend’s parents went on vacation to the Cayman Islands, and Armie Hammer was their concierge. I’m still not over it, Muna Mire said in the since-deleted tweet.

The fictitious message stated before implied that it was from Armie Hammer. The flyer also mentioned that Hammer had access to inexpensive tickets for different events and activities on the island because he worked as a concierge.

Additionally, it stated that the 35-year-old actor would give his customers a complimentary introduction upon arrival on the island. Mire also revealed WhatsApp texts that showed off her friend’s conversation with their vacationing mother. The latter’s texts identified Armie Hammer as the actor who played Simon Doyle in Disney’s 2022 crime thriller Death on the Nile. Another message from Mire’s acquaintance, meantime, made mention of Hammer’s suspected cannibalism.

The author and producer tweeted separately: “I am not trying to blow up my friend’s middle-aged parents’ spot. If you want to do journalism [sic] about it(,) use the info on the flyer! (I) will not be giving out contact info.”

Why are the flyer’s assertions untrue?

In contrast to Muna Mire’s widely shared post, it was claimed that the flier was phoney and intended as a joke against Hammer. This is probably the cause of Mire’s later deletion of the tweet chain. Several outlets, including Variety, have stated that Hammer’s friends who played golf with him at the resort in the Cayman Islands made the flier as a practical joke.

According to numerous sources, the sophisticated prank was created by company personnel who played golf with the star. They allegedly distributed the phoney leaflet to some of the attendees, and it may have found its way to the parents of Muna Mire’s buddy. It’s been said that Armie Hammer stays at the hotel frequently.

Later, Andrew Brettler, Hammer’s attorney, verified to Variety that the flier was a fake. The hotel employees apparently confirmed the same to the publication, explaining that it was a practical joke on the actor.

Armie Hammer apparently finished his recovery program in Florida last year and has been living in the Cayman Islands ever since. In January 2021, a number of accusations of s*xual abuse and violence against the actor surfaced. In other texts that appeared to have been leaked, the actor was further charged with having cannibalistic impulses. All of these claims have been refuted by Hammer.

The actor was denied the role of The Offer, a Paramount spinoff of The Godfather, because to these charges. According to reports, he also divorced his wife, Elizabeth Chambers. It is unknown, though, if Chambers had asked for a divorce from the actor as a result of the accusations.

Many people may have fallen for the joke that Hammer was a concierge in the Cayman Islands because of the controversies surrounding Hammer.
