Recently, rumours concerning the death of Jim Carrey have been circulating on social media. That is not the case, and netizens will be relieved to learn that the veteran actor is in good health.

The rumours’ origins can be traced back to certain clickbait content that appeared on Twitter and YouTube.

Carrey, who is known for his out-of-the-box roles, has played a slew of famous characters throughout the years, earning him a devoted following. Fans were concerned when they saw the bogus news because the Sonic actor has been open about his sadness for a long time.

The death of Jim Carrey is a hoax: Investigating the source(s) of the rumour

Two clickbait posts sparked the rumours. The first comes from Twitter, when a user uploaded a tweet that appeared to be a screenshot from a news outlet, with the following message:

“Tragic Passing of Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey’s Health Diminishing: Source. Watch His Last Words to Family, Friends & Fans.”

Although the headline alarmed some, a quick review of the post revealed that it was nothing more than clickbait.

In addition, a YouTube video has begun to circulate on the internet. The title for the same is deceptive:

“R.I.P. It’s With Our Deepest Regret to Report About Death Of Comedy Legend Jim Carrey Beloved One”

In truth, the film is about the death of comedian Bob Saget, a close friend of Carrey’s, who died of a brain injury on January 9, 2022.

Carrey’s death has not been reported by a trustworthy source, therefore it’s reasonable to presume that he’s still alive and well.

In September 2017, the actor made an appearance on the YouTube podcast TIFF Originals as a guest star.

Jim Carrey had spoken out about his depression

During the conversation, Carrey revealed that he made up his entire image to make people feel less worried and that Jim Carrey was just one of the many characters he had portrayed. “, he remarked “I thought I was just making something fun for people, but it turned out to be a character. I played a guy who was unconcerned so that everyone seeing me would be unconcerned as well.”

He also discussed depression and provided his own comparison of how it differs from sadness. He said that sorrow was the body’s way of telling you that it no longer wanted to be the persona you had created, whereas depression was the body’s way of telling you that it no longer wanted to be the character you had created.

In an April 2022 interview with Variety, the actor also announced his retirement plans, saying that he thought he had done enough work and would like to devote his time to other interests, such as painting. He also discussed his intentions to sell NFTs. Carrey did say, though, that his retirement was not set in stone and that he might reprise parts that he felt were essential to him in the future.

The actor most recently appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute on Netflix.
