David Walliams has found himself in hot waters. A leaked transcript revealed that he delivered inappropriate comments about certain contestants in Britain’s Got Talent.

Here is everything you need to know.

David Walliams’ BGT controversy explained

The Guardian recently revealed that David Walliams made derogatory and sexually explicit remarks about contestants in January 2020.

Moreover, the leaked audio is supposedly taken during a recorded audition show at the London Palladium.

In one of the recordings, Walliams dubbed an elderly contestant ‘c***.’ Additionally, in a different recording, he was caught delivering offensive remarks about a female performer.

He reportedly said, ‘She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t.’

The 51-year-old children’s book author reiterated, ‘She’s just like: ‘Oh, f*** off!’ I was saying, she thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t. It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like: ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘No, I don’t!’’

Netizens react to David Walliams’ BGT controversy

David Walliams’ derogatory comments about performers sparked outrage among social media users as they took to Twitter to condemn his actions.

One user said, ‘David Walliams being a creepy danger is the least surprising thing to ever happen.’

While another chimed in saying, ‘Well, I for one am shocked that David Walliams, a man who did literal blackface on TV and mocked disabilities for laughs, might not be a very nice person. Shocked I tell you!’

Someone else said, ‘David Walliams has been telling us exactly who he is for a very long time. The prejudice and nastiness in his children’s books is a clear indicator.’.

David Walliams apologies for making inappropriate comments

David Walliams sat down with The Independent where he issued an apology for his actions.

He mentioned, ‘I would like to apologize to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.’

In addition, the television personality stated, ‘These were private conversations. Like most conversations with friends were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.’

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Walliams’s fellow BGT judge Simon Cowell came forward to straighten out that the Syco Entertainment owner was not aware of those remarks when they were made.

Besides that, the Guardian publication confirmed that other than Walliams no other judge made any offensive comments.
