Comedian Craig Robinson was forced to evacuate from a comedy club in North Carolina after a gunman opened fire at the venue.

Craig Robinson’s show was canceled after a gunman enters the venue

Craig Robinson was due to perform at Charlotte-area club, Comedy Zone, on Saturday night.

However, his show was canceled when cops at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that a suspicious man allegedly carrying a fireman has entered the premises.

The officials added that the active shooter entered the venue around 9 pm while brandishing his gun and demanding everyone to leave the club.

Furthermore, as the law enforcement arrived at the cub all the staff and audience members were immediately evacuated.

In addition, the authorities claim that nobody sustained any injuries during the whole ordeal and the suspect was subsequently taken into custody. The motivation behind the man’s actions remains unknown as of yet.

The police said, ‘He brandished a firearm inside the business, which was quickly evacuated. The suspect then discharged his weapon. There were no injuries and the suspect was taken into custody.’ 

Craig Robinson speaks out on the incident

Following the incident, Craig Robinson took to his Instagram live as he recalled it to the concerned fans. He shared that he was taken to Metro Credit Union Amphitheater after the gunman entered the venue.

He began, ‘I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club, so they moved us over to this…it’s a concert going on and it’s Big Time Rush, so, I thought I would share it with you all.’

The comedian assured his followers during the video, ‘I’m safe. I’m cool.’

The Office alum added, ‘It was wild, I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody gets out!’ It was a moment for sure.’

Robinson further addressed the situation in an Instagram post on Sunday.

He wrote, ‘About last night. Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes.’

The Killing It star continued, ‘Thank you CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs. Thank God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.’

Comedy Zone, the club where Robinson was scheduled to perform, also released a statement on Sunday.

They shared that the venue will remain closed until Sunday night. Moreover, they claimed that the purchased tickets for Robinson’s show or Sunday’s set will be refunded.
