Chris Rock finally broke his silence over the now infamous slap he received at the hands of Will Smith at this year’s Oscar academy awards.

Here is everything you need to know.

Chris Rock addresses the Will Smith Oscars slap

Chris Rock took the stage at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening. He was joined alongside Kevin Hart where they co-headlined the Only Headliners Allowed comedy tour.

Controversial stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle was a surprise guest at Saturday’s gig.

During his set, Rock unsubtly poked fun at Will Smith as he reportedly, ‘made a joke about Will during a bit about “cancel culture.”‘

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 57-year-old actor joked, ‘anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.’

Furthermore, Hart joined in on the fun when he brought a live goat onstage and named it ‘Will Smith’ during the event.

For the unversed, Rock made fun at the expense of Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s close-shaved head during the star-studded ceremony.

He said, ‘Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.’

This led to Smith storming at the stage and delivering a blow at Rock’s face. He also verbally abused the presenter by shouting, ‘Keep my wife’s name out your f*****g mouth.’

Rock continued to make remarks about the infamous slap during his set the following day at New Jersey’s PNC Bank Arts Centre in Holmdel.

According to Us Magazine, Rock said, ‘I’m not a victim, motherf***er. Yeah, that s**t hurt, motherf****r. But I shook that s**t off and went to work the next day … I don’t go to the hospital for a papercut,’ during a segment about overly sensitive people.

Chris Rock won’t talk about the slap unless he gets paid

Chris Rock has previously stated in multiple interviews that won’t be publicly addressing the altercation between him and Will Smith.

The comedian once said, ‘People expect me to talk about the bulls**t. I’m not going to talk about it right now. I’ll get to it eventually – on Netflix.’

Most recently he shared that he wouldn’t speak about the infamous slap until he gets paid for it while performing at California’s Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio last month.

He mentioned, ‘I’m OK. I have a whole show, and I’m not talking about that until I get paid.’

Meanwhile, Kevin Hart gave an update about Smith’s mental health in an interview. He informed, ‘Will is apologetic, you know, he’s in a better space, of course, than what he was after.’
