Chris Evans will return as Captain America: Everything You Need To Know
2 min readWhile many fans hope to see Chris Evans reprise his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor has stated that returning to the MCU as the legendary Avenger would be “a tall order.”
Chris Evans was asked by Comicbook.com at a press event for Lightyear. He plays Buzz Lightyear if he has any plans to return as Captain America.
Because we only got to see the aftermath of that quest in Avengers: Endgame, a frequent fan preference for Evans’ return as Steve Rogers focuses on him returning the Infinity Stones to their rightful location.
Chris Evans stated that playing Captain America was a top priority for him
While Chris Evans acknowledged the potential plot, he also stated that playing Captain America was extremely important to him. He does not appear to be ready to return to the role unless the “ideal” scenario arises.
“That appears to be something people would like to see,” Evans remarked of the possibility of reprising his role as Captain America in a movie about him returning the Infinity Stones to their rightful place. “I don’t want to let anyone down, but it’s been such a great run, and I’m so delighted with it… it’s very valuable to me.” It’d have to be flawless.
Chris Evans first played Steve Rogers in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and has been a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe throughout its amazing run. After returning the Infinity Stones and passing the shield on to Sam Wilson in Avengers: Endgame, he reappeared as an elderly man.
Evans is now working on a Buzz Lightyear origin narrative
According to the Lightyear summary, Chris Evans is now working on “the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear. “Lightyear joins the legendary space ranger, Izzy, Mo, and Darby, as well as his robot friend Sox, on an interplanetary adventure. As this mishmash of a crew embarks on their most difficult assignment yet, they must learn to work together in order to avoid the wicked Zurg and his obedient robot army, who are never far away.”
