Online sources assert that a grand jury will hear Chris Chan’s case. A Reddit user announced today that the vlogger’s case “had been authorized for Grand jury,” according to a confirmation they received from a law clerk. There is no internet evidence of a formal announcement of the same. Online users, however, think that the reports about the YouTuber’s prospective trial are accurate.

Christine Weston Chandler, also known as Chris Chan, was detained in Richmond, Virginia, in August. After revelations of instances of having s*x with her 79-year-old, dementia-afflicted mother, the author was detained without bail. The internet celebrity acknowledged having sex with her mother “every third night” during a phone chat.

In a taped phone call, Chandler alleged that her mother “made the first move” and was “somewhat bewildered” by the act itself. She also claimed that it “took a few tries” to do it correctly.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, which stated in a Facebook post that the vlogger was charged with one felony of incest, confirmed Chris Chan’s arrest. It is still unknown if Chandler has been accused of more crimes.

Reddit user u/pt924 recently shared a conversation they had with a law clerk in which they inquired on Chris Chan’s hearing status. In the message, the Reddit member asserted:

“The Case has been approved for a Grand Jury,” she said. All right, everyone. Chris-chan will stand trial.

The user of the platform stated that they fully comprehend that other online users would not believe him. “This is what I received when I called,” however.

SmokeyMcC, a YouTuber, also uploaded an audio clip of a conversation with a law clerk today in a video titled Chris Chan Is Going To Trial – The Prison Saga. The clerk also claimed that Chandler’s case is “certified to Grand Jury.”

What is Grand Jury? All the details regarding Chris Chan’s prospective trial

A grand jury, according to Merriam-Webster, examines the evidence gathered against a suspect in a criminal case. After reviewing the evidence, they file formal charges against the defendant if appropriate, and they are subsequently tried. A grand jury is described on the website as:

“A jury that examines accusations against persons charged with crime and if the evidence warrants makes formal charges on which the accused persons are later tried”.

Despite looking into the evidence presented against the alleged offender, the grand jury does not ultimately determine the nature of the alleged crime or the offender. Their only responsibility is to decide if charges can be brought against a person at the outset of the case.

The Grand Jury has the authority to compel witnesses and get any relevant information.

At the time this story was being written, neither the number nor the identities of the jurors in Chandler’s case were known. The grand jury’s deliberations were not recorded for public viewing, nor was this information disclosed.
