Choi Siwon Unable To Attend MAMA 2021 After Testing Positive For Covid-19
3 min readChoi Siwon, a Korean actor, and a member of the Super Junior Band is recently tested positive for Corona Virus. The actor will no longer be a part of the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 21). The event was to be held on 11th December 2021.
On December 10th, 2021, Choi’s agency, SM Entertainment announced that the star is diagnosed with Covid-19 positive. For the safety of the fans and the crowd, he won’t be a part of the MAMA 21.
SM Entertainment further said that the Super Junior member was a presenter at the event. But now he won’t be performing. Choi Siwon tested positive but was asymptomatic. He is now self-quarantined. He is also under medication and the fans are praying for his speedy recovery.
Precautions Are Taken By The Authorities
Precautions were taken well in advance and so the people who came in contact went through the RT-PCR test as well after the diagnosis of the star. There are yet to drop in. The Super Junior band will be performing virtually and their performance will be recorded.
The recording will be screened on the day of the event. The band is asked not to perform live on the day of the event for precautionary reasons.
Choi Siwon’s last on-screen appearance was the TVING web drama Work Later, Drink Now. That very appearance left his fans astounded by the actor’s effortless charm as PD Kang. Everyone is hoping for his quick recovery and his return to the screen, both as an actor and as a Super Junior member.
Statement by SM Entertainment
“This morning (December 10), Choi Siwon tested positive for COVID-19. He had been fully vaccinated with two doses in September. As part of the precautions for his regular entertainment activities, he took a PCR COVID-19 test and received a positive result.”
The agency added in their statement stating that Choi Siwon has halted all his scheduled activities and is in self-quarantine. They further added that he will no longer be able to attend the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2021 MAMA) as a presenter on December 11.
