BET revealed that rapper Chief Keef will be a part of the performance schedule for their award event, which has many fans excited. The rapper made his stage debut during the concert on Sunday evening, June 25, 2023. Despite his fame, it’s odd that Chief Keef has never performed until tonight. The underlying reason for his absence, however, was an extensive ban imposed on him roughly ten years ago, which forbade him from attending or performing. Since then, fans have been anticipating his first appearance at the award presentation. BET, or the Black Entertainment Television Awards, blacklisted Chief Keef ten years ago following the 2013 ceremony, and no one knew why.

Until, in 2014, Keef responded to a fan on Twitter. The fan highlighted him in the tweet chat and pointed out his absence from the awards event, to which he responded, “BET banned me a long time ago.” Because I didn’t go to 106 because I didn’t feel like it! According to Hollywood Life, “I was getting high.” He said he was blacklisted by the Black Entertainment Network for failing to appear as a guest on the ‘106 & Park’ show. Keef was apparently upset that he was not a part of the programme, which included musicians such as Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar, and had been simply invited as a guest.

What Caused Chief Keef To Be Banned From The BET Awards? The Rapper Sets The Stage Ablaze During His Debut Performance

The phrase “blackballed” is frequently used these days. Rappers fail to make the Billboard charts, and then there’s a vast plot to bring them down. In many cases, this is just not what’s happening. However, Chief Keef believes that these assertions about his relationship with BET are true. BET has revealed that rapper Chief Keef will be part of the performance schedule for their award event, which has many fans excited. The rapper made his stage debut during the concert on Sunday evening, June 25, 2023. He’ll be part of an all-star generational lineup of performers celebrating Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary. Given Chief Keef’s importance and influence, it’s only natural that he joins Fat Joe, E-40, Tyga, Big Daddy Kane, and others in commemorating the occasion. In response to his exclusion from the 2013 edition, he went on a rage on social media. Although the reason for the ban was not made explicit at the time, many attributed it to his controversial personality, whether it was due to the violent nature of his music, feuds with other rappers, or NSFW social media posts.

Keef would subsequently say that he was essentially banned from BET. There was no explanation as to why Chief Keef was blacklisted ten years ago after the 2013 award ceremony for the Black Entertainment Awards. Until, in 2014, Keef commented to a fan on Twitter. The fan referenced him in the tweet chat and pointed out his absence from the awards event, to which he responded, “BET banned me a long time ago Becuz I didn’t attend 106 Cuz I ain’t f**kin feel like it!” He told Hollywood Life, “I was getting high.” The Black Entertainment Network blacklisted him because he failed to appear on “106 & Park” as a guest. Keef was apparently upset that he was not a part of the programme, which included musicians such as Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar, and was just invited as a guest. As Chief Keef performed a much-needed performance at the award show, it looked that his ban from attending the BET Awards had been removed. The rapper delivered a blistering performance of his 2014 hit song ‘Faneto’ with the Ying Yang Twins that had the entire audience dancing and on their feet.
