FN Meka, a ‘robot rapper’ has inked a deal with Capitol Records and is set to become the first AI-powered virtual rapper.
Music Business Worldwide published an article on 17th August where they revealed that a ‘robot rapper’ named FN Meka has signed a deal with Capitol Records.
The media publication further mentioned that FN Meka has also released a new single called Florida Water. The track further includes the RICO-indicted rapper Gunna and gaming streamer Clix.
Meanwhile, Turbo produced the song. He has previously worked with major rappers such as Travis Scott, Young Thug, and Lil Baby.
Furthermore, during the song, FN Meka delivers flossy lyrics such as, ‘Oh, just put it on my tab/I don’t see the prices, throw it in my bag/Always in a foreign when I dash/Clean water VVS diamonds bust down/Make it splash.’
According to the creations, the vocals in the song are performed by a real human being although the lines are seemingly generated through artificial intelligence.

Factory New, a virtual record label created FN Meka and was the first to ‘sign’ the robot rapper.
The company’s co-founder, Anthony Martini talked about the process to MBW in 2021. Martini created FN Meka alongside his partner Brandon Le.
Moreover, Martini shared that the song is sung by a real human being however everything else is AI-generated.
He explained, ‘Technically speaking, FN Meka is voiced by a human. But everything else about him – from his lyrics to the chords and tempo underpinning his music – is based on AI.’

Martini added, ‘As of now, a human voice performs the vocals. But we are working towards the ability to have a computer come up with and perform its own words – and even collaborate with other computers as “co-writers.”‘
Ryan Ruden, an executive at Capitol Music Group has mentioned his opinion on the recent partnership.
He said, ‘[It] meets at the intersection of music, technology, and gaming culture. It’s just a preview of what’s to come.’
Meanwhile, FN Meka is quite popular on social networking sites despite launching his career only a few years ago. He currently has over 10 million followers on TikTok with more than a billion views on the video-sharing platform.
