The Canadian military is demanding a US podcaster to delete an episode on his podcast where a former Canadian sniper speaks out against the country’s COVID vaccine mandate.

Here is everything you need to know.

Canadian military orders US podcaster to remove an interview with sniper who criticized vaccine mandates

Shawn Ryan, a former Navy SEAL, received a cease and desist letter from the Canadian military last week.

It was regarding the release of an interview with former Canadian counterterrorism sniper Dallas Alexander

During the interview, Alexander came forward to reveal some classified information.

Moreover, he admitted that he was the sniper that made the 2.2-mile record-breaking shot in 2017, killing an ISIS fighter in Mosul.

In addition, the military also says that Ryan aired an undisclosed clip of the killing which was never authorized for public release.

Subsequently, the military ordered Ryan to take down the two-episode interview of Alexander from social media platforms.

Meanwhile, the letter sent to Ryan read, ‘[Y]our podcast series contained information or material that has been properly classified and protected, and which is sensitive information such that its public release is injurious to Canadian national security, national deference, and international relations.’

Furthermore, Alexander also criticized Canada’s  COVID-19 vaccine mandate in one of the interviews with Ryan.

However, Ryan ended up removing the videos from his social media channels.

Shawn Ryan and Dallas Alexander respond to the Canadian military demand

Shawn Ryan claimed that the Canadian military wanted to only censor Dallas Alexander’s interview because of the country’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

In the interview, Alexander admitted that he left the military because he refused to get vaccinated against the virus.

Ryan took to his Twitter account on Tuesday to address the issue.

He wrote, ‘I believe that this is their attempt to silence Dallas from explaining that he left the command for refusing the covid vaccine. However, it was ultimately my decision to pull the video.’

In addition, he continued, ‘I do not want to be on the wrong side of this if there was, in fact, some kind of sensitive or “classified” information that would jeopardize or compromise the unit or any operators currently serving.’

Meanwhile, Alexander shared a video on his Instagram to slam the Canadian military’s request for censorship.

He said, ”In all aspects of censorship, the common theme is, “this is dangerous information to someone, therefore we need to censor it.”‘

Additionally, he mentioned, ‘We’ve seen a lot of that over the past few years.’
