Burberry is on the receiving end of some major criticism from internet users following the release of their new ad campaign.

Here is everything you need to know.

Burberry ad campaign controversy explained

Burberry announced the launch of their new advertisement, B:Mine on 23rd January Monday. They released due to the coming occasion of Valentine’s Day.

Moreover, they shared a clip on their official social media platforms. Multiple LGBTQ couples are featured in the clip where they can be seen making out and embracing their on-screen partners.

In addition, one person appearing in the video seemingly has double mastectomy scars. If you didn’t know, a double mastectomy is a surgical process where both breasts are removed partially or completely.

However, despite their effort, the fashion company’s latest ad did not sit right with online users.

Netizens react to Burberry’s Valentine’s Day campaign

Many users took to their Twitter account to slam Burberry after their latest ad campaign went viral on social media.

In addition, multiple users bashed the British luxury fashion brand for encouraging ‘activist’ marketing.

They said that Burberry is aware that the small demographic that they targeted in their new ad does not really purchase much from their stores.

Moreover, others dragged Balenciaga into the discussion and mentioned that these labels only target woke people with money.

A user wrote, ‘Balenciaga and Burberry have both told us very clearly they don’t want your money unless you’re a woke person who accepts pedophilia & pronouns. Spend your money somewhere else.’

Another user chimed in to say, ‘Burberry now only wants customers who have had gender-changing mastectomies. No problem. I won’t be buying.’

Someone else penned, ‘Burberry had one job: make baby shower shirts so we know who the father is.’

A different user shared, ‘Hmm, well making your customers throw up in their mouths isn’t my idea of solid marketing, but you do you @Burberry.’

Balenciaga was under fire for a child campaign scandal

Balenciaga faced immense criticism in November 2022 after announcing the Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

However, the posters included images of toddlers playing with plush toys while sporting a BDSM-style b*ndage.

Moreover, one picture reportedly consists of documents from a child s*xual abuse case.

Gabriele Galimberti, the photographer of Balenciaga’s controversial campaign, issued a formal apology during an interview with CNN.

He said, ‘I am not in a position to comment (on) Balenciaga’s choices, but I must stress that I was not entitled in whatsoever manner to neither chose (sic) the products, nor the models, nor the combination of the same.’
