The American rock star Bruce Springsteen fell during his concert in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Over the weekend, the 73-year-old musician slipped on the stairs while climbing to the stage at Johan Cruyff Arena. According to social media videos, Bruce Springsteen was about to perform his 2020 hit song “Ghosts” when the incident occurred. In an attempt to help Springsteen, his bandmates rushed to his side as he fell flat on his back with his guitar around his neck. As he got back to his feet quickly, there were no injuries sustained by the singer. “Goodnight, everyone!” he said. The E Street Band and Springsteen are currently touring Europe, stopping in the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, and Germany.

There will be stops in New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Arizona, and California when the tour returns to the United States in August. When Springsteen made his stop in Spain last month, he accompanied former First Lady Michelle Obama and actress Kate Capshaw, who is the wife of Steven Spielberg. Along with Springsteen’s wife and E Street member, Patti Scialfa, Obama and Capshaw sang backup vocals and played the tambourine. A longtime friend of Obama’s, Springsteen endorsed him during his 2008 presidential campaign, performed at his inauguration in 2009 and again at his farewell speech in 2017. The massive tour will conclude in December when the band returns to the United States.

During her visit, Michelle Obama was accompanied by her husband, Barack Obama, Capshaw, and Spielberg. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Springsteen rallied for Obama, and he performed at his inauguration address in 2009, as well as at a private farewell address in 2017. Springsteen was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Obama in 2016. As part of their friendship, music, and enduring love for America, they collaborated on a podcast in 2021 called Renegades: Born in the USA. Last year, Springsteen revealed that he has no plans to retire any time soon on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show. I couldn’t imagine [retiring], you know? He said it at the time. If I become incapacitated or something, that would be interesting, but up until then, I considered myself to be… Oh, look at Johnny Cash and Pete Seeger. Springsteen even recalled sharing the stage with an 89-year-old Seeger at Obama’s inauguration in 2009 when Cash and Seeger performed well into their golden years.
