Taking to Twitter, West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler apologized for performing a dramatic Britney Spears monologue. Jamie Lynn Spears reacted in a strong manner to the former’s reading of Britney’s tweets to her sister.

Throughout the show, the 20-year-old actress impersonated the singer. Among the tweets, she read out loud was: Jamie Lynn, congrats babe! You’ve stooped to a whole new level of low. I’ve never been around you ever with a knife or would I ever even think to do much!

Britney was allegedly locked in a room holding a knife along with her sister Jamie Lynn, according to an interview with Juju Chang on Nightline. In response to Jamie Lynn’s knife revelations, the above tweets were sent.

What was Rachel Zegler’s apology?

According to Rachel Zegler, she “loves Britney” and says she will always be behind her despite the criticism she received for the monologue. In a tweet, she told her 164.1k followers she didn’t mean to disrespect the singer and that she wasn’t thinking clearly about how the monologue would be viewed. According to her tweet, she apologized to people whom she may have upset or disappointed.

She also stressed the gravity of the Britney Spears conservatorship situation in another tweet. Throughout the tweet, she thanked her fans for holding her accountable for her actions. According to her tweet, this is not a situation to be taken lightly and we should all be supporting Britney during this trying time.

Thanks for hearing me out, and a big thank you to all who held me accountable.”

People supported her for recognizing her mistakes

After tweeting her apology statement, the actress’ supporters inundated the actress’ account with messages of support. A great deal of praise went to her for recognizing her mistakes and apologizing for them. Moreover, it was stated that she should learn from her mistakes since she was “still young.”

One user wrote that she forgives Rachel 100%. To see all the hate and backlash she received, she said, was really sad. “People need to understand that you’re still young and you’re still learning.”
