Brandi Carlile sings ‘The Story’ and ‘You and Me on the Rock’ at Saturday Night Live

Brandi Carlile performed on The Story and her Grammy-nominated track You and Me on the Rock following her return on the Saturday Night Live stage.

Brandi Carlile returns to Saturday Night Live stage after 14 months

Brandi Carlile was the musical guest of Saturday Night Live’s December tenth episode. Moreover, she delivered her classics, ‘The Story’ and ‘You and Me On The Rock.’

If you didn’t know, The Story is the title track from Carlile’s 2007 sophomore LP while the latter track is included in the In These Silent Days album. In addition, the song was nominated for Grammys and featured Lucius.

Besides that, Carlile was introduced by Martin Short, who co-hosted the weekend’s episode with Steve Martin.

Short is seen announcing during the performance, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, Brandi Carlile.’

The 41-year-old singer on the other hand launched into The Story for her first performance of the night.

Carlile had previously taken to Twitter to share her feelings over the Martin-and-Short episode.

It read, ‘The greatest @nbcsnl of the year!’

She continued to write, ‘I would fly to New York City just to witness this from the audience. But instead, I get to sing my songs on my favorite show.’

Meanwhile, Carlile’s recent performance comes 14 months after she took the stage of SNL last year in October.

Back then, the episode was hosted by Jason Sudeikis. Additionally, Carlile played ‘Broken Horses’ and ‘Right on Time’ at that time.

Brandi Carlile nominations for the upcoming 2023 Grammy Awards

Brandi Carlile is nominated in nearly seven categories for the upcoming 2023 Grammy Awards.

Meanwhile, You and Me on the Rock are up for three awards including Best Americana Performance and Best American Roots Song. 

Additionally, In These Silent Days is nominated for Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammys.

Regardless, Carlile has received around twenty-five nominations at the Grammys throughout her ongoing career. Also, she has six Grammys in her name.

Furthermore, she came out as part of the LGBTQ community in a November 2002 interview.

She later talked about it in the Los Angeles Times where she said, ‘I don’t have to have a lot of formality around it … there were people before me who paved the way.’

Meanwhile, Carlile has two daughters with her partner Catherine Shepherd whom she married in 2012.

In addition, she is associated with multiple humanitarian causes and has lent support to several foundations.
