Brad Pitt files lawsuit against ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling Chateau Miraval Winery

Brad Pitt, the 58-year-old actor sued Angelina Jolie in a dispute over their winery. Despite their divorce in 2016, the couple seems to be engaged in battles on multiple fronts. His ex-wife sold her stake in the winery and he accused her of not honoring the terms of the agreement.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently fighting over a winery and the battle has led to a lawsuit. The couple had purchased Chateau Miraval, the Correns, France winery back in 2008. Angelina sold her stake in the winery to a Russian Oligarch Yuri Shefler. Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to be happy with her business decision.

According to the court documents, Brad Pitt wants the court to overturn the transaction. Angelina Jolie sold her stake in the winery to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group run by Shefler. The court documents further revealed that having purchased the winery back in 2008, cost them close to $28.4 million. Angelina Jolie owns 40% of the stake, and paid about $11.36 million out of the total funding.

Brad Pitt, on the other hand, claims that not only does he own the majority of the stake, but it was his sole effort to make the winery what it is today. Ever since 2013, he invested time, money, and efforts to make the winery flourishing and profitable. Brad Pitt acknowledges Angelina Jolie’s monetary contribution towards the winery. However, he was the driving force in the success of the same.

Brad Pitt not only seeks the court to declare the sale void but also wants to be paid for the damages and legal fees. Moreover, he revealed that Shefler’s involvement in the winery has hindered his ability to run it efficiently

Pitt Accused Jolie Of Violating Terms Of The Agreement

Court documents revealed that Pitt acknowledged that Jolie informed him of her plans to sell her stake in July 2021. Moreover, he revealed that he had given her the consent to find a buyer for the same. However, the sale will take place only after he gives his approval.

However, Brad Pitt testified in court that Angelina Jolie did not honor the terms of their agreement regarding the winery. She sold her share of the winery in October 2021 and did not disclose the deal or seek his approval for the same.

Moreover, an insider revealed that Angelina Jolie violated her legal and ethical obligations by making the sale to Shefler. As a result, she even violated the rights of the person who invested money and sweat equity for the success of the winery. Additionally, the insider revealed that Angelina Jolie is seeking a return on the investment she did not make and she wants the profits she did not earn.

As said previously, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are fighting battles on multiple fronts. Last year in May, the court gave them the joint custody of their four minor children. They tied the knot in 2014 and split up in 2016.
