The indie romance book community was shaken by the return from the dead of author Susan Meachen. It was believed that the His Wicked Way author had died by suicide after her alleged daughter posted her death online in September 2020. The Internet, however, doesn’t seem to be getting along with the writer’s return. Netizens were left shocked by the Finding Faith author’s recent post in the Facebook group The Ward. Because she was battling mental health issues, her family decided to declare her dead. It’s likely there will be lots of questions and a lot of people leaving the group, according to the post. However, I cannot fault my family for doing what they thought was best for me.

As a result, they had to go through all that hell again, due to my own actions. Although returning to The Ward doesn’t mean much, I’m in a good place now and I hope to start writing again soon. Let’s get started. In spite of stating that the author had passed away, the Meachen family claimed to have been bullied by online trolls and other romance writers. Online friends of Susan Meachen mourned her death and collected money for funeral expenses. They also edited an unpublished work of the author for free, fulfilling what the author described as her last wish — the release of her final novel before her daughter’s wedding.

Who Is Susan Meachen? Netizen Reacts To The Author Fake Death Controversy

Susan Meachen is an independent self-publisher whose books are available on Amazon. Many of her pieces are popular, including Finding Faith, His Wicked Way, and Never/Ever. According to her author bio, she is the author of Perfectly Flawed Romances. Her last novel, Love to Last a Lifetime, was reportedly in progress when she allegedly died. Posthumously, Meachen’s daughter completed the final rewrites and published the book in October 2020. Samantha A. Cole, an indie romance author, revealed that she grieved the loss of her friend. As a result of the fake death, the former expressed outrage.

The death hoax stunned Internet users. A number of people believed that the Losing Hope author was involved in an elaborate scheme to drive her book sales and make money. According to one user, the thing that baffles me about the Susan Meachen thing is… Now, THIS is her legacy. The number of books she writes in the future or the quality of the books doesn’t matter. The vast majority of people will always remember her as the author who faked her suicide. Susan Meachen’s stuff just reaffirms my belief that all Susan’s are evil, according to another user. Susan Meachen faking her own suicide and then wandering blithely back on the internet because she “got bored” is so exquisitely insane, someone said.
