Asmongold Criticizes Twitch Moderation, Threatens Move to Kick or Rumble if Banned

Popular Twitch streamer Asmongold recently announced his plans to host a stream with Dan Saltman, co-host of the Anything Else podcast with Destiny, aiming to expose what he sees as “extremely biased” moderation practices on Twitch. In a recent broadcast, Asmongold expressed frustration with Twitch’s perceived selective enforcement of rules, particularly in cases where certain streamers face lighter penalties than others for similar conduct.
The controversy surrounding Twitch moderation gained traction when streamer Central_Committee was banned following a stream where he appeared to threaten Destiny, a well-known political content creator. However, Central_Committee’s ban was lifted after just three days, sparking debate over whether the platform’s moderation is consistently applied. In response, Asmongold voiced his concerns, arguing that Twitch shows favoritism in deciding who faces penalties and for how long. “One person can do something and nothing happens,” Asmongold claimed on his stream. “Somebody else says something, and they are permanently banned. It’s obvious that [the moderation] is biased.”

With plans to bring Dan Saltman onto his channel for an exposé of Twitch’s moderation practices, Asmongold has also prepared for potential fallout. When asked by viewers what he would do if he were banned for this broadcast, he revealed that he would likely move to alternative streaming platforms like Kick or Rumble. “If I get banned for that, honestly RIP Bozo. Let’s be real, I can just go somewhere else and stream over there,” Asmongold said, adding that he sees other platforms as viable options should Twitch take action against him.
His concerns about Twitch are part of a larger critique from some prominent streamers who argue that Twitch’s recent decisions have drawn negative public attention. “These people are making Twitch worse, they have already created a lot of negative publicity, and I think it’s just going to continue to get worse,” Asmongold added, though he didn’t specify which events he was referring to. However, his comments come in the wake of recent controversies, including a letter from U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, raising concerns about an increase in anti-Semitic content on the platform.
Dan Saltman, whom Asmongold plans to feature on his stream, has been vocal about some of these controversies, including alleged issues with user accessibility from Israel. Earlier this year, Twitch faced backlash from Saltman, Destiny, and other critics, who claimed that Twitch had restricted new user sign-ups from Israel. The platform later issued an apology and addressed the situation, but the incident fueled further scrutiny of Twitch’s moderation and content policies.
Asmongold has been vocal about Twitch’s perceived inconsistencies, pointing out that Central_Committee’s three-day ban aligns with his own plans for the Saltman stream. “Is the stream with Dan Saltman on? Well, I said that if he got banned for less than two weeks, I would do it,” he stated. “He got banned for three days. Last time I checked, three days is less than two weeks. So it sure sounds like it’s on.”
By raising concerns and threatening a shift to platforms like Kick or Rumble, Asmongold joins a growing list of creators who feel that Twitch’s moderation policies are undermining its appeal to streamers and audiences alike. Whether he follows through with the exposé and whether Twitch will respond remains to be seen, but for now, Asmongold appears ready to address what he believes is a serious issue with Twitch’s approach to moderation.
