Apart from being a director and an editor, he was a fashion journalist and a stylist. He worked in several publications, including the New York Times before landing at Vogue. He served as Vogue’s news director from 1983 to 1987 and further became the creative director of the same and held the post for the next 7 years. In addition, Talley was a judge on America’s Next Top Model.
Above all, Talley had been a stylist to Former President Barrack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. He received the ‘Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ award from France in 2021.
