Adele Announced Postponement Of Las Vegas Residency
British Singer Adele took to social media to announce the indefinite postponement of her Las Vegas Residency:
Although the team had implemented intense covid protocols, half of her team has tested positive for covid-19. As a result, it is not possible to host the show.
Announced in late November, the Las Vegas Residency was to take place in Caesar Palace’s Colosseum. It consisted of 24 shows, beginning from January 21, 2022. Until April, Adele was to perform two shows every weekend as part of the Weekends With Adele series. There was a range of prices for tickets, from $85 to $685. Moreover, fans paid up to $30,000 for presale tickets for her show. A covid vaccination certificate, as well as a covid negative report within 48 hours of the show, was mandatory for every viewer.
Fans Are Furious As Adele Postpones The Shows
The announcement stunned and enraged many fans. It was Adele’s first concert in five years, and hence people were eagerly waiting to attend the shows. Fans have spent huge amounts of money to attend the show. Post the announcement, many fans said that they were unsure if they’ll have the time and money to attend the rescheduled show.
Adele has not announced the dates of the rescheduled shows. There was speculation that the show might begin in April by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In the video, she revealed that she had been awake for over 30 hours trying to solve logistical issues. Even then, she did not have enough time to prepare for her show on Friday. The announcement frustrated many fans, who said “It was a slap in the face”.
One of the fans even accused Adele of shedding crocodile tears. She further pointed out that obtaining refunds for travel and hotel was always a complicated process.
A devastated Adele said she was ’embarrassed’ by the delay and was ‘gutted’ to miss the performance on Friday night. However, she promised that she will reschedule the dates of the show and the team is working on the same.
In addition to two appearances in London’s Hyde Park this summer, these are the only shows in which she was going to promote her fourth album. There are many fans who have already arrived at Las Vegas for the opening show. Adele apologized to them as well.
In 2017, after damaging her vocal cords, Adele had to cancel the last two shows of her previous tour, at Wembley Stadium.
