Actress Anne Heche is not expected to survive the brain injury she sustained following her fiery car accident in Los Angeles.

Anne Heche is unlikely to survive the brain injury

A statement from Anne Heche’s representative was released on Thursday night updating the actress’s health status on behalf of her family and friends.

According to the statement, she is in a coma and is currently being kept on life support to determine whether her organ is possible for donation.

Heche is hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital north of Los Angeles. She is suffering from ‘severe anoxic brain injury’ which happens due to a lack of oxygen to the brain.

The statement said, ‘Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition.’

It confirmed that Heche ‘is not expected to survive.’

They added, ‘It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she’s being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.’

The statement further read, ‘Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work.’

They conclude the letter with, ‘She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.’

Anne Heche crashed her car into a two-story home in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles last Friday 5th August.

Heche was left in critical condition and sustained severe burns while the crash destroyed the house.

Furthermore, the cops revealed that were investigating whether Heche was driving under the influence when she smashed her car. 

LAPD spokesperson, Jeff Lee confirmed that investigators found narcotics in Heche’s system. They took her blood sample after obtaining a search warrant.

Heche is recognized for her role in 1997’s Donnie Brasco and I Know What You Did Last Summer. She is also known for her work in 1998’s Six Days Seven Nights, Volcano and Return to Paradise.

Some of Heche’s television credits consist of Fox’s Ally McBeal and WB Network’s Everwood. Also, ABC’s Men in Trees, and NBC’s The Michael J. Fox Show. 

Moreover, she bagged a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in NBC’s soap opera Another World in the year 1991.
