More about Ab-Soul
Ab-Soul, whose official name is Herbert Anthony Stevens IV, was born on 23rd February 1987 in Los Angeles, California.
In addition, he began his career in hip-hop in 2002 after joining the rap group named Area 51 alongside rapper Snake Hollywood.
Ab-Soul then went on to sign with StreetBeat Entertainment in 2005. However, he switched labels and became a member of Top Dawg Entertainment a year later after he met TDE president Punch.
Subsequently, he talked about his relationship with the TDE label during an interview with Complex on 10th July 2012.
He mentioned, ‘We’re a real family unit. They weren’t coming at me talking no paperwork—it wasn’t nothing like that. We were really just trying to build as a team and try to create a new sound.’
He continued, ‘That’s the most important thing. It took a while before we started talking about stuff like that, contracts, and stuff. It was just a matter of developing and coming into our own. That is definitely our intent.’
Ab-Soul then went on to release his debut studio album called Longterm Mentality on 5th April 2011.
Meanwhile, the artist is reportedly working on his next studio album. According to speculation, Ab-Soul is expected to release the album later this year in December.
The hip-hop star has re-released his album, Herbert as a part of the pre-album hype. Ab-Soul has also performed at the Tiny Desk Concert.
