7 min readThe 2021 MTV VMA (Video Music Awards) has arrived. Check for your favorite artists here.
The show was held On September 12th, it was aired live from the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York. Doja Cat is hosting this grand show. See the full list of the winners of MTV VMA down below!
The first thing to remember, The MTV VMA night’s grand winner was Lil Nas X, who took numerous awards home. This includes the coveted Video Of The Year Trophy, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects. Interestingly, all these above mentioned are from a single song (Montero). Lil dedicated his Video of the year award to “the gay agenda”, a reference to queer-positive messages with his single he recently released. Lil Nas made his own massive comeback with rapper Jack Harlow. Mirroring the event in Montero State Prison, their music video is now the new hit (Industry Baby).
This list of MTV VMA includes Group of the year (BTS), Best New Artist (Olivia Rodrigo) and her song of the Year(Driver’s License), Video for good(Billie Eilish), Artist of the year(Daniel Caesar), and his song (Peaches) and the list goes on.
For the first time, Justin Bieber performed on the MTV VMA stage, after 6 years since his emotional breakdown. Kid Laroi joined for a rendition of their hit song (Stay). Also, he sang “Ghost” from his recent album “Justice”. After that, Chloe Bailey, with her sister R&B and Chloe X Halle, again proved she is an authentic boss with her debut solo performance, leading the audience to ask for more new single “Have Mercy”.
Furthermore, Normani showed an eye-catchy performance of the song “Wild Side”. An intense tribute paid by Foo Fighters as they accepted the Global Icon Award; for late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts.
At the start of the event, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez honored their tribute to MTV’s 40th year. Madonna shared her past when she came to New York City at 19. She sees the “Center” in Times Square when dropped off by a cab driver at the home of MTV.
Moreover, The show is live with the audience this year; the show is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an updated version of the statuette. This time, Wiley’s Moon Person is adorning with flowers and greeny vines. Evidently, MTV says, the trophy represents the diverse nature; that marks its history, and environment, and natural importance.
