The Resident Season 5 Episode 1: Recap

The premiere of The Resident Season 4 showed us that Conrad was taking care of his daughter as Nicole was away. Whereas, Randolph Bell started to do most of the surgeries becoming the top earner at the hospital. But then ransomware attacked the hospital premises. Meanwhile, Feldman was taking care of the patients and asked for help. Even the doctors and Conrad were trying to help the patients as the systems were not working. Later, Kitt entered and revealed that they have demanded $5 million.

On the other hand, Conrad finds a 14-year-old girl Esty who reminded him of his situation when he was young. She saved a blind man. That girl’s father reminded him of his father. But, then, a call came which brought Conrad back to Gigi. It seemed that even the imaging was under attack which worsened the situation of Conrad’s 14-year-old patient. Kitt blamed the attackers and they decided to put patient’s lives at risk for $10 million now.

The situation of Esty was critical and they were about to lose her. This made everyone emotional in the hospital. Leela was crying in the arms of Devon. Esty’s father fainted as the team was making preparations for her to get blood. Meanwhile, Devon thought of asking for help to fight against the attackers. Dr Nolan brought Winston who was a blind patient and he had a fracture in his arm.

The situation becomes worse when Esty started to release spinal fluid and her father fainted. The father passed away because of his heart problem. Meanwhile, Winston entered the room where it was very hot and he could not breathe. On the other hand, Devon managed to track the hackers and the FBI was on its way to help them. Later, Conrad felt blessed to have Gigi as his daughter. Moreover, Devon and Leela reunited. Later, Devon saved Winston from that room. The episode came to an end when Conrad heard “Da Da” from Gigi when she was asleep.
