The Goldbergs, which recently passed the 200-episode mark, will return for a tenth season, thanks to ABC’s decision to renew the family comedy for a tenth season.
With the renewal, the series from Adam F. Goldberg and Sony Pictures TV joins a select group of live-action broadcast comedies that have aired for more than ten episodes. It is presently the longest-running live-action network comedy series.
The renewal of The Goldbergs comes as no surprise. Given that ABC inked a new agreement with star/executive producer Wendi McLendon-Covey to keep the show going in March, as Deadline exclusively reported.
The renewal brings The Goldbergs’ difficult year to a close
The renewal comes after executive producers Alex Barnow and Chris Bishop renewed their contracts with Sony TV to continue as showrunners.
The Goldbergs, which follows the trials, ups, downs, twists and turns in the life of the crazy but loving namesake family during the Reagan era, has had a difficult year.
The sitcom has lost two key cast members in the last 13 months: George Segal, who died in March 2021 from complications from bypass surgery, and Jeff Garlin, who left in December after repeated misconduct complaints and HR investigations.
The TV family paid respect to late Albert “Pops” Solomon, who was played by Segal, as the show’s ninth season began. This season, the series surpassed the 200-episode mark.
About The Goldbergs
