Zendaya is voicing Lola Bunny’s character in the upcoming film Space Jam: A New Legacy. The news was confirmed on Saturday via the film’s official Twitter account.
The first trailer for space Jam: A New Legacy has just dropped and along with it also been given a brand new casting announcement specifically detailing the actress who’s been hired to voice Lola Bunny. While the other tunes will be voiced by voice actors who’ve been voicing the characters in some cases for decades. Zendaya will provide the voice of Lola bunny for the new film Picking up the role made famous by Kath Soucie who voiced the character for the last 25 years since the first space jam film in the mid-90s.
Director Malcolm D. Lee earlier told Entertainment Weekly that the character had been reworked after finding her unnecessarily not politically correct in the original film. With the new version of the character, Malcolm D. Lee wanted to reflect the authenticity of strong capable female characters and make sure Lola Bunny had an appropriate length on her shorts and was feminine without being objectified to around Lola’s athletic powers and leadership skills and make her as full a character as the others. Malcolm D. Lee also aimed to give Lola bunny a real voice leading to the casting of the audience’s favorite Zendaya.
