A Dodgeball 2 is in production, with Vince Vaughn returning as Pete LaFleur. Both critically and commercially, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story was well-received when it was released in 2004. An unlikely group of misfits participate in a dodgeball tournament for $50,000 in the hopes of saving their beloved gym, in which a moustachioed Ben Stiller plays the antagonist White Goodman. 20th Century Studios, which produced the original Dodgeball, has entered the development stage for the sequel. Also confirmed is that Vaughn will return to the project as a producer in addition to reprising his starring role.

This movie will continue the story of LaFleur, who won a dodgeball tournament and used the winnings to keep his gym open at the end of the last film. Justin Long, who played Justin Redman in the original, a member of LaFleur’s dodgeball team and a patron of LaFleur’s gym, spoke briefly about Dodgeball 2. The following October, Long said that Vaughn had pitched him a sequel idea, which he complimented as being “great” and “funny,” though he didn’t elaborate. In addition, after hearing the pitch, Long expressed interest in returning for a sequel.

Dodgeball 2 Is Officially In The Works, Confirming Actor Vince Vaughn Returning For The Anticipated Sequel

A Dodgeball sequel is officially in the works, with actor Vince Vaughn returning in the sequel to one of the most beloved comedies of the early 2000s. A beloved movie from the early 2000s, Dodgeball was first released in 2004. Despite years and years of fans wishing for a sequel, a second Dodgeball movie has been confirmed to be in production. Dodgeball fans still recite the 5 D’s, “dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.” Both critically and commercially, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story was well-received when it was released in 2004. It follows a group of misfits who enter a dodgeball tournament hoping to win $50,000 to save their beloved local gym, which also features a moustachioed Ben Stiller as the antagonist White Goodman. According to Deadline, actor Vince Vaughn will return for Dodgeball 2, with Jordan VanDina writing the script. To the delight of fans, Justin Long revealed that Vince Vaughn had an idea for a sequel back in November 2022.

Long told ComicBook that actor Ben Stiller has been hesitant to return to the Dodgeball universe, which is part of the reason the sequel has been delayed. It’s something I’d love to do and I hope it eventually happens, but I think Ben [Stiller] is a little trepidatious about doing a sequel to something that’s so beloved, something people enjoy so much. Jordan VanDina will write the sequel, which means that Vaughn and VanDina have discussed Vaughn’s plot idea or will work together on the script. Aside from the 2020 comedy The Binge, VanDina will be writing the screenplay for the upcoming Dennis Rodman biopic 48 Hours In Vegas. It remains unclear whether Rawson Marshall Thurber will return for the upcoming film sequel based on Dodgeball, although he floated the idea of a TV series. It seems Long would be open to returning, and other intriguing comedians, including Jason Bateman, Alan Tudyk, Stephen Root, Missi Pyle, Christine Taylor, and Gary Cole, could also be revived. Apparently, Dodgeball 2 is in the works, and more details are likely to follow.
