Shortly after the onset of the Rumbling, the Trost District is indeed a wreck, with several citizens hurt or killed. Hitch is busy saving and helping the injured. Hitch discovers a path of puddles flowing from the basement to a room in the building wherein Annie is sleeping.
Annie slips up behind Hitch and flashes her ring at her as she walks into the room. Annie threats to transform into Titan form if Hitch turns her and shouts for rescue. Hitch switches her mind and assists Annie out when a soldier knocks on the door.
Gabi bids farewell to the Blaus household. Meanwhile, Floch informs Jean, Onyankopon, and all the others of Eren’s plans, which he learned about months earlier. After Floch murders one among Onyankopon’s coworkers for refusing to surrender to Floch, Jean is already at a loss.
Pieck and Commander Magath stand in a woodland, watching the Colossal Titans leave the island. Hange and Levi appear out of nowhere, leading to an exciting turn.

Annie shares with Hitch regarding her life and origins as they journey via horseback. She confesses that she was raised by a strict adoptive father who forced her to practice as a Warrior so that he might live a good life. Annie had lost all sense of worth in life, especially her own. This was after her mother left her at the gates and her adoptive father’s behavior with her.
Annie’s father, that day they left for Paradis, apologized for how he had treated her and begged with her to return safely. Annie is now eager to uphold her promise.
