Zac Efron discussed his 17 Again co-star Matthew Perry, saying he would be “honored” to portray him in a movie about his life. Efron revealed to People at the screening of his latest film The Iron Claw in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday that Perry “was a mentor” as well as that he learned comedic timing from him. He explained that seeing him during the filming of 17 Again was surreal for him because he has given him so much throughout his life. It is an honor for me to be considered for this role. “I’m flattered that he thought of me to play him. We’ll see what happens. that would be an honour for me to do that.” Perry, 54, passed away in an apparent drowning at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28. The formal cause of death, on the other hand, has yet to be identified and will apparently necessitate further examination by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.

Zac Efron says he’d “be honored” to play Matthew Perry on the big screen. After the “Friends” actor apparently expressed his desire for Efron to play him in a biopic about his life, the “Greatest Showman” star gratefully responded. “I’m honored to have learned he was thinking of me to play him,” he said at the premiere of his film “The Ir on Claw” on Wednesday. “We’ll see what happens.” that would be an honor for me to do that.” Efron also expressed his sorrow for his “17 Again” co-star, saying he is “devastated” by Perry’s passing. “He was my mentor and we created a really cool movie together,” he said. ” I looked up to him; he taught me how to do comedic timing.” I found it odd to see him there when we were filming ’17 Again,’ because I have learned so much from him throughout his life.” In the 2009 picture, Efron plays Mike O’Donnell, the younger counterpart of Perry’s character. Perry’s friend Athenna Crosby, who was one of the last persons seen with him before he passed away on Oct. 28, previously stated that he wanted the 36-year-old “High School Musical” actor to star in his film.

On November 3, Perry was laid to rest in a secluded area of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California. His “Friends” co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow attended his burial. According to sources, the “Morning Show” actress is “struggling” the most with his death.
