Anthony Vella, a YouTuber renowned for his paragliding content, recently encountered a harrowing experience during a filming session. In his latest video titled “Paramotor Crash ALMOST Ended My Life,” uploaded on April 27, Vella shared the traumatic aftermath of a devastating paraglider accident that left him hospitalized with a fractured neck, broken back, and other injuries.
The incident unfolded as Anthony Vella was testing the BGD Luna 3 paramotor at Enchanted Rock State Park. The paramotor, equipped with a motor to propel the paraglider, was reaching speeds of approximately 50 mph (80 km/h) when disaster struck. While in mid-air, Vella lost control of the vehicle due to a small tension knot, causing the paraglider to collapse and sending him plummeting to the ground from a height of 80-100 feet.
Despite the severity of the fall, Anthony Vella narrowly escaped death, thanks to the swift intervention of bystanders who alerted emergency services and provided immediate assistance. In his video, Vella took responsibility for the accident, attributing it to his failure to detect the tension knot prior to takeoff. He clarified that the malfunction was not a result of any flaw in the BGD Luna 3 paramotor but rather his own oversight.
