XXXTentacion murder trial: Friend describes fatal shooting
XXXTentacion’s family friend took the stand on Monday to give his testimony regarding the rapper’s murder case.
In addition, he revealed that he was traveling with the rapper when suddenly they were ambushed by two men.
He also went on to say that while he fled in fear he later heard gunshots seemingly that killed XXXTentacion.
Hence, Leonard Kerr’s testimony highlighted the opening day of the XXXTentacion murder case trial.
If you didn’t know, XXXTentacion was shot inside his BMW sports car on 18th June 2018 while pulling out of the Riva Motorsports’ parking lot.
Furthermore, Kerr added that he was sitting with XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, inside his BMW when an SUV suddenly blocked them.
Meanwhile, two men carrying weapons ambushed them. Kerr mentioned that the tall men ordered him to get out of the car while the other tried to steal the chain hanging around XXXTentacion’s neck.
However, Kerr pushed the emergency button and fled from the incident when the door opened.
Kerr claimed that when he looked behind he saw the taller one pointing the gun toward XXXTentacion. Moreover, later the sound of at least two gunshots was heard.
Meanwhile, according to Kerr’s testimony, the suspects then escaped in the SUV after stealing $50,000 that XXXTentacion was carrying in his designer bag.
The defense suggests that Drake might be involved in XXXTentacion’s tragic death
The jurors heard two different theories about XXXTentacion’s murder case during opening statements.
The prosecutors claim that it was a robbery gone awry. Meanwhile, the defense argued that the rapper’s death might be related to his feud with Drake. However, the detectives failed to investigate the possibility of having other suspects.
Michael Boatwright is accused of being the shooter while Trayon Newsome accompanied him during the incident. Dedrick Williams on the other is accused of being the driver.
Meanwhile, Williams’s attorney Mauricio Padilla stated that Drake should have been questioned following the aftermath of his alleged feud with XXXTentacion.
Padilla went on to refer to a tweet sent by XXXTentacion before his death during the opening statements.
She said, ‘Before X died, he said if anybody kills me it’s Drake.’
