Will Smith has officially issued an apology to Chris Rock four months after he slapped the comedian at the Oscars Academy Awards in March.

Will Smith addresses the infamous Oscars slap
Will Smith recently took to YouTube to apologize to Chris Rock following his infamous slap at the Oscars earlier this year.
The video started with a caption that read, ‘Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work. You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer.’
He began, ‘It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is he’s not ready to talk, and when he is, he will reach out.’
Willard Carroll Smith II who is popularly recognized as Will Smith publicly apologized to Rock in the six-minute YouTube video.
The Fresh Prince mentioned, ‘So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you.’
He further shared, ‘There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave at that moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.’
The 53-year-old then went on to say, ‘I am deeply remorseful and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself.’
At one point in the clip, the actor appears to be fighting back tears as he continued, ‘I’m human, and I made a mistake. I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of sh*t.’
For the unversed, Smith is apologizing for his behavior at the Academy Awards held on 27th March. The actor stormed up to the stage and slapped presenter Rock after the comedian made fun at the expense of Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.
Will Smith apologizes to Chris Rock’s family
Will Smith also apologized to not only Chris Rock but his family as well.
He said, ‘My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk. I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I saw an interview that Chris’s mother did, and that was one of the things about that moment.’
The producer noted, ‘I didn’t realize how many people got hurt at that moment.’
Rock’s mother, Rosalie claimed in a previous interview with US Weekly, ‘When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me.’
