What Happened To Mia Ikumi? ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ manga artist Passed away at 42

Japanese manga artist Mia Ikumi expired on March 7 due to a subarachnoid haemorrhage. Manga journal Nakayoshi confirmed her demise on their website. “Mia Ikumi, a manga artist, died suddenly on March 7, 2022, due to a subarachnoid haemorrhage. We simply plead for her spirit and would like to convey our honest appreciation.

“Her editorial personnel cannot benefit but mourn her abrupt and unexpected demise. Her creation ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ was presumed to commence expressing an exuberance labelled ‘Tokyo Mew Mew Her Nyu’ this summer.

 Furthermore, in February, we openly declared the edition of all 10 volumes of ‘Tokyo Mew Mew New Edition’ to fulfil the animation. She has already brought out the cover descriptions for the recent edition and the whole quantity. She has moreover drawn manga that was schemed to be encompassed in each volume.

Who was Mia Ikumi?

Ikumi gave rise to her debut with ‘Super Doll Licca-chan’ in Nakayoshi magazine, which operated from 1998 to 1999. She then established ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ with writer Reiko Yoshida, which revolved around a mysterious girl.

 From 2000 to 2003, seven volumes of the manga were disseminated. The manga also motivated a 52-episode television anime series named ‘Mew Mew Power’ which circulated on 4Kids Entertainment in 2005.

A few of her other works encompass ‘Report’, ‘Koi Cupid’ and ‘Only One Wish’. Ikumi’s household and close families held a personal goodbye procession for her. “Mia Ikumi, the founder of the recent ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ has departed. We simply plead for your spirits. Meanwhile, lovers took to Twitter to deliver their consolations and thank the 42-year-old for her work. A buff club for the manga series wrote, “Mia Ikumi, the founder of the original ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’ has sadly departed. Our solaces go out to her family at this time. 

I understand this is a painful day for the Tokyo Mew Mew community. I’m sad to notify you if you weren’t familiar. RIP Mia Ikumi.” Another lover said, “Mia Ikumi enacting is so extremely sad.
