Twitch star Fanum has announced plans to sue the New York Police Department (NYPD) following a controversial incident in which an officer pointed a gun at him and seized his Lamborghini Urus. The incident occurred during the Dominican Day Parade in New York City, where Fanum was live-streaming.

Fanum, a popular member of the AMP group, was driving through the parade on July 28, 2024, when his car was stopped by the NYPD. According to the police, the vehicle was pulled over for driving without license plates. The situation quickly escalated, and clips from the stream showed an officer drawing his gun on Fanum, which sparked outrage on social media.

The streamer, whose real name is yet to be widely known, took to his Twitch channel on July 29 to address the incident. He revealed his intentions to take legal action against the NYPD, stating, “My attorneys will be contacting you guys shortly, uh, it was nice to meet you guys too.” Fanum accused the police of carjacking him and criticized their actions during the livestream.

Fanum humorously referred to the incident as the “Fanum tax,” expressing his frustration with the NYPD. “Let’s drop Ws in the chat for that you know what I mean? You want to carjack me? Okay. You’re going to tax me, I am going to tax you. No bullsh*t, sorry not sorry. We can’t keep doing this NYPD, stop glazing, thank you.”

Following the incident, images surfaced online showing an NYPD officer posing with Fanum’s distinctive purple Lamborghini, further fueling public outrage. Fanum took to Instagram to update his followers, confirming that he had recovered his vehicle four hours after it was seized. “For those asking, I got my Urus back 4 hours after NYPD glazed me and took it. They just wanted to drive a lamb,” he wrote.

He also condemned the police’s actions, questioning their motives. “Ya decided to pull a gun on me and all them kids for what? We had a permit to be in the parade. Then after NYPD carjacks me on stream, they pose up with my vehicle like a photoshoot. Them suits on the way, I got bag and time let’s really do it.” Fanum even hinted at purchasing a Bugatti in response to the incident.

In the viral video from the livestream, Fanum can be seen repeatedly questioning the presence of the officer’s gun, asking, “Why does he have his gun out? Get the camera on this, bro. Why’s the gun out? Why do you have this gun out?” The NYPD later confirmed that Fanum’s vehicle was stopped due to the absence of license plates and that his driver was released with a summons for an unregistered vehicle.

Fanum’s encounter with the NYPD has garnered significant attention, with fellow AMP members, including Kai Cenat, voicing their support and criticizing the police department. Cenat, who had a similar experience with the NYPD last year, commented on X, “NYPDK F**K EM,” in response to a photo of police officers posing with Fanum’s car.

As the situation develops, Fanum’s planned lawsuit against the NYPD highlights ongoing tensions between law enforcement and public figures, particularly in the context of perceived overreach and misconduct by police officers. The streaming community and Fanum’s supporters are closely watching to see how this legal battle unfolds.
