Troye Sivan was confused when he saw Timothée Chalamet imitate him on Saturday Night Live. Despite being depicted as a sleep demon in the sketch, Troye said he felt like he was dreaming. The Australian musician, often referred to as “gay famous” in comedy, is gaining popularity in mainstream culture. He took to social media to respond to Timothée Chalamet and the ladies of Boygenius imitating his appearance and distinctive dance moves, even referencing their red underwear. He shared videos and photos on his Instagram, labeling one of them as “Pure shock,” while watching the skit.

Chalamet captioned the share, “WHY IS LIFE SO WEIRDDDD RN LMAO IM DEAD,” when the sketch made it to his main grid. He expanded on his reactions in a video on his TikTok page, where he played a sample and then spoke straight to the camera. “The only way that I can sum up this,” he explained, “is like a weird f–king dream.” Imagine… Timothée Chalamet appeared in my dream and he was donning my clothes and executing [my dance moves].” Sivan may have to adjust to his newfound mainstream status, as the “gay famous” star is also celebrating his first-ever Grammy nominations. The Australian singer won two awards for his song “Rush”: Best Pop Dance Recording & Best Music Video.

Rush Singer Troye Sivan Reacts To Timothee Chalamet Do His Best Impression Of Him On ‘SNL’

Troye Sivan was in “pure shock” after seeing Timothée Chalamet mimic him on Saturday Night Live. Following the November 11 episode of the NBC comedy series, in which the Wonka star comically portrayed Sivan as cast member Sarah Sherman’s sleep paralysis demon, the Australian pop sensation went to social media. “WHY IS LIFE SO WEIRDDDD RN LMAO IM DEAD,” Sivan captioned an Instagram clip of the SNL sketch. On his Instagram Story, the Idol star also posted many screenshots from the comedy, as well as a photograph of himself enjoying the funny section on his laptop with the comment “Pure Shock.” The musician was so taken with it that he changed his profile photograph to a picture of Chalamet playing him. During the five-minute sketch, Sherman portrays a woman who complains to her doctor (SNL’s Bowen Yang) about seeing a mysterious presence in her room as she tries to sleep. The evening’s host, Chalamet, suddenly comes into the hospital room as a hallucination of Sivan appearing in the artist’s ‘Got Me Started’ music video, in which he wears a tight white tank top and loose blue trousers.

“It’s just a guy,” Sherman says, “but like a gay guy,” to which Chalamet’s Sivan responds, “No, not simply any gay guy, homie.” Troye Sivan here. Let’s get started!” Sherman is reassured by Sivan, played by Timothee Chalamet after Sivan shows off his dance skills and slightly tugs on his trousers. No not at all girly, that’s not true. I’m Troye Sivan, an Australian YouTube sensation turned independent rock star & model turned HBO actor who can’t do an Australian accent.” That’s what he says in his regular voice. Sherman, the doctor reveals, is the fourth lady he’s treated who is “suffering from Troye Sivan dancing as her sleep demon.” Sherman questions whether this is a good thing, asking, “Isn’t he kind of famous?” “He’s gay famous,” Bowen says. It’s unique!” The sketch concludes with Sherman informing the doctor that she is beginning to enjoy Sivan’s company. “Don’t say that, I wish you hadn’t. “They multiply as soon as you let them in,” he says. Sivan then manifests additional versions of himself in the shape of musical guests Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker from Boygenius.
