Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s lavish Italian wedding ceremony has been criticized for “mocking” Catholicism.
The reality star said “I do” in a white Dolce & Gabbana mini dress with a dramatic veil emblazoned with the image of the Virgin Mary – a nod to a tattoo her new husband has inked on the top of his head.
While Barker, 46, has spoken publicly about his Catholic faith, it is unclear whether Kardashian, 43, is a member. However, over the years, the Poosh founder has shared numerous texts about faith, quotes, and Bible passages via her Instagram Stories.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have been chastised for “mocking” the Catholic faith
“I just really feel like Travis and Kourtney [sic] wedding is mocking the catholic religion?” one user added. They don’t represent religious people at all, and they feel mocked. I’m not a Catholic, but it doesn’t sit well with me.”
Another supporter expressed their “joy” for the newlyweds, but stated that “liturgical garments used during mass are not something fashionable.”
One person even stated that Kardashian’s short gown “offended” them.
“Kinda strange that Kourtney’s wedding has this catholic ‘aesthetic’ like the Virgin Mary on her dress and wedding veil?” Someone said on Twitter.
Barker, for one, previously revealed to Vice that he was raised Catholic.
“When I was 18, 19, I got the Virgin Mary tattooed on my foreman.” “And I was raised Catholic,” he explained in a November 2015 interview.
Other backlashes that the newly wed had to face
The couple was also chastised for allegedly allowing their wedding to provide “free publicity” to the scandal-plagued fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana.
“I love Kourtney and Travis, but Dolce & Gabbana dressing the entire fam for the wedding is not it,” one person argued, referring to the fact that the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan was dressed in looks from the Italian label.
A chef uses a ladle and tongs to serve a limited amount of pasta on a decorative plate in a now-viral video shot by Kourtney’s little half-sister, Kylie Jenner, 24, 43.
It was one of many behind-the-scenes exclusives that the billionaire documented on her Instagram Stories.
The pasta video was only 13 seconds long, but it was enough to send Twitter into a frenzy.
The section was described as “one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen” by one user. That tweet has received over 29,500 likes and more than 2,600 quote tweets.
“This would force me to confront the bride and groom,” one commenter added.
“I’m not interested if the portion isn’t the size of my face,” another said.
“If I’d been there, I’d have protested,” one user wrote.
The newlyweds fake-married in Las Vegas in April and legally married in Santa Barbara, California, earlier this month. They remarried in front of their family and friends in Portofino, Italy, on Sunday.
