Fox will soon be releasing TMZ Investigates: What Really Happened to Richard Simmons. It is scheduled to broadcast on 22nd August 2022.
The series will revolve around the intriguing story of the world-renowned fitness guru, Richard Simmons.
He used to be among the biggest names in the fitness world and was typically recognized for his eccentric attitude and flamboyant lifestyle.
The synopsis of the show mentions, ‘Investigating why beloved fitness icon Richard Simmons hasn’t been seen for more than eight years. TMZ speaks to the people closest to him, including Bruce Vilanch, Suzanne Somers, Dr. Phil, and Simmons’ longtime costume designer, Leslie Wilshire.’
Simmons reportedly disappeared from the limelight in 2014. Moreover, it has been nearly eight years since neither media nor the paparazzi could get a hold of him.
Is Richard Simmons still alive?
Although Richard Simmons has successfully managed to remain elusive for quite a while, recent reports claim that he is alive and doing just fine.
Simmons is reportedly living in his house with three dalmatians to keep him company. He prefers to keep a low profile to enjoy most of his time in solitude.
According to an article by The Sun, TMZ founder Harvey Levin has mentioned that Simmons does leave his house either to stroll across the beach or to go shopping.
Furthermore, Simmons continues to share fitness clips on his official YouTube channel following his near-eight-year hiatus. It is important to note that he has not revealed how he looks as of yet.
Simmons hosted his last exercise session at his studio, Slimmons, in 2016 before stepping away from the public eye.
What happened to Richard Simmons?
Richard Simmons’s brother Lenny has come forward as his spokesperson to reveal that the fitness guru just wants to be by himself.
He further clarified the rumors spreading about Simmons in an interview with People magazine in 2017.
Lenny claimed, ‘He’s not sick. There’s nothing medically wrong with him at all. These things about him transitioning to a woman are ridiculous. My wife Cathy and I were out there for Christmas and spent five days with him and I can assure you, he’s not transitioning into anything but himself.’
