GWEN SHAMBLIN: WHO IS SHE?

Gwen Shamblin was an American author and the originator of The Weigh Down Workshop, a Christian diet program. She is well known for her weight-loss program, which was implemented in 1000 churches across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. In 1997, Gwen published The Weigh Down Christian diet. Weigh Down is described on the program’s official website as a “new faith-based method to overcome obesity.”

A LOOK AT THE PERSONAL LIFE OF THE WEIGH DOWN FOUNDER

According to Hollywood Life, Gwen Shamblin married twice. Her first marriage, to David Shamblin, took place in 1978, and she had two children with him: Elizabeth and Michael. In the documentary, Helen Byrd, a former Remnant Fellowship member, stated that David and the author “certainly did not represent all Gwen thought was right and rigorous.” She later fell in love with actor Joe Lara, who rose to fame in the 1990s as Tarzan in the television series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures. In 2018, the couple tied the knot.

IN 2021, GWEN SHAMBLIN KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH

Gwen Shamblin died in 2021 at the age of 66. When the plane crashed into Percy Priest Lake, the author, her husband Joe, her daughter’s husband, Brandon Hannah, and four other members of the group were flying in a private jet from Tennessee’s Smyrna Airport to Palm Beach, Florida. Joe was reportedly flying the plane at the time of the incident, according to sources. At the time of his death, he was 58 years old. The cause of the accident is yet unknown.
