PETA is determined to shut down Elon Musk’s medical device company, Neuralink. Hence, they have started urging Twitter users to speak up against the bird app’s new CEO.

Here is everything you need to know.

PETA is applying Twitter pressure to close Elon Musk’s Neuralink

PETA is looking to put pressure on Elon Musk by using his newly acquired $44 billion company, Twitter against him.

The organization has started calling Twitter users to bombard the multi-blogging platform with messages of protest. They further asked the users to tag Musk and his company,  Neuralink while sharing the tweets.

A representative of PETA talked about their decision to call out Elon Musk for animal testing over his Neuralink company.

They said, ‘Neuralink and the University of California-Davis are responsible for the deaths of at least 15 monkeys because of Elon Musk’s quest to stick a chip in a human’s brain.’

Moreover, the animal rights organization further said that Musk’s experimentation goes back nearly two decades to other companies. In addition, they noted that Neuralink has piled up around the same number of animal corpses in just a few short years.

PETA’s rep added, ‘Experimenting on and killing animals is never good science. Since monkeys in Musk’s experiments have also died for reasons that have nothing to do with these studies. The laboratory should be closed.’

Reuters report on Elon Musk’s Neuralink’s animal testing

Earlier this month, Reuters published a report detailing the concerns of the in-house workers. They also mentioned the growing number of animal tests and deaths at Elon Musk’s Neuralink company.

Additionally, the website claimed that since 2018 around 1,500 animals have been killed at Neuralink. Sources with direct knowledge of the company’s animal-testing operations stated that over 280 sheep, pigs, and monkeys were also killed.

The animals are reportedly being killed to meet the 51-year-old billionaire’s reported timetable for the chip as well as for the advancement of research.

If you didn’t know, Neuralink is developing a chip that will help to combat paralysis. The company is also promising that it will allow patients to think of a task that would be completed by a machine.

However, earlier this year rumors started making rounds of Musk starting human trials of the chip soon. However, it appears like it is yet to take place.

Besides that, PETA is suggesting the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Inspector General straighten out why animal protection laws were allegedly violated.
