The Ontario Labor Ministry is reportedly conducting an investigation into an industrial accident that occurred during the filming of Beast Games, the Amazon Prime series led by YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson. The incident allegedly took place on September 11, 2024, on the set of the show, which had been constructed as a miniature village at the former Downsview Airport in Toronto.
According to reports from CP24, a worker sustained injuries after being struck by falling wood during production. While the ministry has yet to disclose the severity of the injuries, it confirmed that the employers involved—Blink 49 Studios and Manhattan Beach Studios—were each issued a “requirement.” However, the specific details of the requirement have not been revealed due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Freelance journalist Steven Asarch brought renewed attention to the case on December 30, 2024, via a tweet linking it to an earlier report he published in Rolling Stone. He described the incident as involving a six-foot by six-foot piece of a tower falling on a crew member, who was subsequently hospitalized. Asarch stated:
“The Ontario Labor Ministry is investigating an ‘industrial accident’ that happened on the set of the Beast Games in Toronto. It does sound a lot like the falling tower I wrote about… but the ministry wouldn’t confirm it was.”
YouTuber Rosanna Pansino also weighed in on the controversy, questioning the lack of transparency in MrBeast’s behind-the-scenes footage. She suggested that more information about the show’s safety practices could emerge:
“Odd that none of his Behind the Scenes footage included this injury, or any of the other injuries. Looks like more information is coming.”

This isn’t the first time Beast Games has faced allegations. Earlier in December, MrBeast addressed rumors surrounding the show, including claims of injuries and hush money payments. In response to a contestant’s question during behind-the-scenes footage, the YouTuber dismissed the allegations, saying, “A lot of things [being said] are not true.”
As of now, MrBeast has not commented on the Labor Ministry’s investigation. The outcome of the probe remains to be seen, but it has drawn attention to the safety protocols on high-profile productions like Beast Games.
