Tania McGowan is accused of starving her infant baby
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a local woman named Tania Nicole McGowan in connection with a child’s death.
According to reports the 23-year-old woman starved and abused the infant before his death on 11th December.
Moreover, it mentions that Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department received a call about an unresponsive infant and quickly visited her Duval Road residence.
However, the baby was immediately transferred to the University of Florida Health where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner on the other hand believed the baby boy’s condition to be extremely concerning.
In addition, they said that the infant was malnourished with no evidence of food in his stomach or intestines.
The report read that the child looked to be, ‘extremely malnourished to the point that the victim’s stomach was caved and his rib cage protruded. The victim’s face was thin and his cheeks were sunken in.’
Meanwhile, the medical staff requested the police to investigate the death of the infant after seeing his condition.
Besides that, the officials caught McGowan abusing her child in surveillance footage during the investigation.
In the video, she was seen slamming her son against furniture and covering his head with a blanket. She later went on to violently slap the victim’s head continuously.
Additionally, the report mentions, “She grabs the victim by the head and face and forcefully twists the victim’s head to the side. She then covers the victim’s head with the blanket and begins to forcefully strike the victim on the back repeatedly with an open hand.’
