Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast on social media, is speaking out about the mental toll of being one of the most successful content creators. MrBeast posted on X (previously Twitter) the day before winning Creator of the Year at the 2023 Streamy Awards for the third year in a row, “In order to upload weekly videos later this year I have been filming every single day (as well as only having a couple of days of filming between now and end of the year) and I’m dying mentally.” MrBeast is notorious for going above and beyond for his YouTube videos, which include costly stunts, challenges, pranks, and giveaways. “I sincerely wish you guys appreciate these videos when they go up, I’m exerting myself to the maximum to get them done,” he wrote in the post.
MrBeast also recently said that his videos have more than “100,000,000 views in a week” on average, adding that “most of the video’s views come after the first week.” After publishing his first video on YouTube in 2012, the social celebrity rose to prominence over the next decade. He now has more than 179 million subscribers on the Google-owned video-sharing website, as well as millions of followers on other social media platforms. MrBeast previously stated on YouTube’s The Colin and Samir Show that he had a “mental breakdown every other week” because he is so focused on creating material. “I have no life.” “I have no work-life balance,” he said to hosts Colin Rosenblum and Samir Chaudry. “My personality, soul, and being are focused on making the best videos possible while entertaining those who watch them to the best of my ability,” he says. “That is why I am here on Earth.”
