The Facebook and Instagram account of Donald Trump is to be restored in the coming weeks. He was banned from social media platforms for nearly two years after his posts supposedly incited people to the US Capitol.

Here is everything you need to know.

Donald Trump’s suspension on Instagram and Facebook comes to an end

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, took to the internet to announce that the handles of Donald Trump will be reinstated soon. It comes after two years when they were indefinitely suspended.

Moreover, Nick Clegg, Meta`s President of Global Affairs Meta confirmed the news in a blog post on Wednesday.

They penned, ‘The suspension was an extraordinary decision taken in extraordinary circumstances. The normal state of affairs is that the public should be able to hear from a former President of the United States, and a declared candidate for that office again, on our platforms.’

Additionally, they continued, ‘But that does not mean there are no limits to what people can say on our platform. When there is a clear risk of real-world harm – a deliberately high bar for Meta to intervene in public discourse – we act.’
